The asthetics behind a book cover

hmmmm.......please people, dont take this the wrong way but I dont think you people have even the vaguest idea of what kind of book requires which kind of aesthetics. I am not trying to make myself superior or anything (heaven forbid!) but not every book can have a your favourite pic or design on it.

For example, tariq ali's novels required a subtle, aesthetically soothing pic because the text required it. But his non-fiction work (e.g The clashes of fundamentalism) required a photo-collage/ graphic illustration because he tackled a more modernist/traditional issue. So, now that we understand this, it is not logically possible for a graphic designer to put on cover what he finds pleasing.

Now you've done it buddy...I am going to weep, most piteously, for the next three weeks...sigh... not the vaguest idea????!!!! How could you say that?!!! sweet Lord!!!!!!:))))))

:) sorry :) just in a very goofy mood today:)

Hell, you're the graphic designer on board. :) This is what you'll get if you ask for suggestions:)))))))))) Too many females spoil the broth.

I love what you've done for the cover:) And OH!!!!!!!! I wanted you to make the modern lady have a nicer haircut though:)))) make it a little softer I guess.... she reminds me of our recent Indian Cruella:) (http://gothamist.com/attachments/jen/2007_05_cruelle.jpg)

But I agree with you:) we can't have our favourite pictures on the front. Sad... once in a lifetime you have the license to destroy a book cover and Gib screws it. :)
